The publication of the
archaeological site “Ormeaux” presents a new example of our knowledge of the
exploitation of marine resources during the Iron Age along the French Atlantic
façade. Shells have been taken into account from the excavation with
sedimentary samplings. The analysis of the malacofaune and crabs allowed the
discovery of many species (24 molluscs). It shows that some species currently neglected
by coastal populations were exploited and eaten during the Iron Age. This study
also makes it possible to know which shells were the most consumed during the Iron
Age on this area of the
