Welcome to Denis Morineau website
I am senior scientist (Research Director) at the CNRS (Centre National
de la Recherche Scientifique) since 1997. I joined the Institute of Physics of Rennes in 2003, so as to set
up a research activity on nanoconfined molecular phases. My research activities span over the fields of Chemical-Physics and Nanoscience.
Nanoconfined molecular phases
The aim of our projects is to achieve a better understanding
of the peculiar behavior of molecular phases when they are manipulated
(confined) in channels of nanometric dimension.
These systems show up exceptional features, which usually correspond to
current challenging questions for basic research in Physics of condensed
matter but also key issues for future developments with respect to nanomaterials
and new openings towards nanofluidics.
Our activity relies on the use of complementary experimental techniques
(in lab spectroscopies or neutron scattering) and computational molecular
simulations.

Video and Comic book; Travelling along channels, Confined Liquids Seen by Neutrons

Diving into the world of the infinitely small, this open access comic book, created during the time of the French lockdown in 2020, invites us to discover how matter can change their properties if it is also confined... in extremely small volumes.
