A program financed by ESA ; including teams from Orsay, Dublin, Marne-la-Vallée, Rennes. This European program is also in partnership with the one of NASA, coordinated by D.J. Durian.

experiments in parabolic flights

Between 2003 and 2009, I participated to 7 parabolic flight campaigns. All together, I flew about 350 parabolas, implying about 2 hours in 0g... but, by periods of 20s !

experiment in sounding rocket

In 2005, I worked with engineers of EADS and SSC on a module for a MAXUS sounding rocket. The MAXUS 6 rocket was launched in November in Kiruna (Sweden). Here are below some pictures of the rocket and of our experimental module.

It provides 12 minutes of very high quality microgravity. The module can be monitored in real time from ground : I had the opportunity to optimize the experimental protocol during the flight.

By the way, spending two weeks in Laponia (beyond the polar circle) in November remains an interesting experience by itself !

ISS

In 2009, a first simple foam experiment was launched towards the ISS and performed by F. DeWinne, an ESA astronaut !

Nice to have an astronaut performing experiments for you in space, no ;-)) ?

The devices were conceived and prepared by our partners from Liege Univ. ("Grasp" team). Thanks to them for all the technical job.

The experiment was focusing on foam collapse under 0g ; many various sample foamability and stability were tested . Protein samples were tested thanks to the help of our colleagues from INRA - Rennes.
